Miami's Bam Adebayo is poised to make history as he secures his first All-Star starting position.

The announcement came on Saturday, as Adebayo steps in for Philadelphia's Joel Embiid in the Eastern Conference starting lineup for the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night. Embiid's absence, due to a knee injury, led to the decision made by Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers, who will lead the East team.

Adebayo's journey to the All-Star Game includes previous selections as a reserve in 2020 and 2023, alongside a notable victory in the skills competition during the 2020 All-Star weekend. With this achievement, Adebayo becomes the seventh Heat player to start in an All-Star Game, following in the footsteps of Dwyane Wade in 2016.

In his seventh season with the Heat, Adebayo has been delivering impressive performances, averaging 20.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1 block per game. Notably, this season marks his debut as team captain, setting a new standard for Heat players. Adebayo's well-rounded statistics are unmatched in Heat history, with only two other players, Embiid and Milwaukee All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, achieving similar numbers across all five categories this season.
